We kicked off the New Year with a brand new fundraiser. The purpose of the Journey to Independence fundraiser is to provide essential items to young adults who have aged out of the foster care system.
There are over 400,000 youth in the US foster system every year. More than 20,000 individuals age out of the foster system as early as their 18th birthdays. That means that their state will no longer provide support for these youth, therefore they are left to fend for themselves if they do not have permanent housing arrangements prior. Up to 20% of youth who age out of the foster system become instantly homeless on their 18th birthdays. With the help of our caring supporters, She Is STEM will be helping these youth to transition into adulthood. Head over to our donation page and share our link. We'll be fundraising until 6/30/21.

With the help of gracious members of the community and corporate sponsors, She Is STEM & The Black Girl Social Club: Jacksonville chapter were able to successfully make the Holiday Season brighter for the residents of the Sulzbacher Center with our Winter Drive 2020! The U-haul was full of basic necessities and non-perishable food items. We had assistance unloading the donations by some pleasant staff at Sulzbacher.
We are so grateful to be able to help those in need! Shout out to June Cup, Global Protection Corporation, Ross Dress for Less, Costco, and CVS for your corporate donations! Thanks for all of the support! We are pleased to announce that we'll be collaborating with the Sulzbacher Center for our first Winter donation drive!!! Sulzbacher strives to end homelessness, one person at a time. Here at She Is STEM, INC, we strive to improve our community by assisting those in need. For this collaboration we'll be raising funds and collecting new, unopened in-kind products to provide basic needs items to those in need.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 for this initiative. Please check out our donation page! Anything you donate can help us make an impact. This fundraiser will close December 1, 2020. Update: Our fundraiser is closed and we are so thankful for all of those who supported us! We can't wait to drop off all of the donations next week in time for the holidays. |
